Here's the FINAL part of my 4 part video on disassembling a K98 German Mauser, and how to identify the codes you'll find on various parts of this fine rifle. In this episode, we spend most of our time reassembling the rifle, then taking one last run-down on the remaining codes. Major hint: most of the codes are WaffenAmt 26, which speak volumes about the source of the K98, and how one could argue that this rifle is mostly original, with a few noticeable variances on certain parts like the rear sight and rifle stock. Hope you enjoyed this one, I'll try to get ones out for the Lee-Enfield and 1 or 2 of my Mosin Nagants in the coming months. But first, we have many gun range vids to make! The Rifle you bought (Well over-priced, either as a 'bubba' or even if in original stock) is a Spanish Airforce M-44 Rifle ( with 'EA' Ejercito de Air Seral number.) The Military (Army) Version (M43) 'looks' like a German Kar98k except some parts (Stock, bands) are 'chunkier'; The M44 rifles are mostly made from Ex-German Gew98 M and Ex- Polish Wz29 Rifles left over from the Spanish Civil War.the 43's are nearly all 'New made' by Fabrica Armas La Coruna. You only solution is to find a complete M44/M43 Stock and bands, and 'restore' your rifle.the Low serial number gives it some 'notoriety' if not any added value. And learn the lesson ( as I did with a chopped up, overpriced Czech (Israeli) 7,9mm Mauser back in the late 1960s.which has since been 'restoreed' with a new stock of the same make and era).
